Plugins coming soon to a marketplace near you

Corona PluginPlugins make up a major piece of the Corona ecosystem, allowing the product to grow without increasing the core app size. This lets us keep your app bundles small while creating features you may want to include in your app.

Plugins also allow us to provide rapid updates without requiring new builds. You can see a collection of the currently available plugins in the Corona Marketplace.

What you won’t see in the list are the plugins we are currently developing. While there is always a chance that priorities can change, here’s an update on what we are working on.

Coming soon!

On the heels of the Facebook Audience Network (FAN) plugin that we announced on Friday, January 15, look for these plugins, coming soon:

Google Analytics — This plugin will allow your app to use Google Analytics to track events and usage, helping you gain insights into customer behavior and grow your audience.

Hockey App — Hockey App is an app testing platform for both iOS and Android. This plugin will provide valuable features like crash reports, analytics about your testers, and more.

Corona Ads — We hope to have the initial plugin out to beta testers by the end of January, with a wider audience rollout towards the end of February. See our recent update on the blog!

On the horizon

Crashlytics — This plugin will provide you with crash reports and analytics for both iOS and Android, helping you improve your apps.

Apsalar — This plugin will give you access to analytics that can help you improve your return-on-investment, segment your audience, and provide custom messaging to users.

Applovin — This plugin will help you use data to reach new consumers through marketing automation and analytics.

Going forward

While this list isn’t exhaustive, it should provide you with some insight into what we are working on. Keep in mind that while we can’t control all aspects of development on these plugins, we are constantly working on new features and trying new things.

If you have a specific plugin in mind, you can help us decide what to work on next by creating a new feature suggestion through our feedback site, or by voting on an existing request. Learn more about this in the Corona forums.

Are there any updates on the paid plugin marketplace?

We want to get this going and it’s been bumped up in priority, but there is nothing new that we can report at the moment.

All these plugins focus on analytics and knowledge on app’s behavior. It’s nice but it would be fine to have plugins that enhance apps (new widgets, vector graphics…).
I’ve been told by AppsFlyer that they are working on a plugin for Corona, can you confirm ?
    Thank you

Agree that we should have a stronger variety of plugins. Our hope is that the Corona Marketplace will nurture this initiative!

Re: attribution tracking plugins like AppsFlyer, Kochava, TUNE, etc – we are aware that the plugin ecosystem lacks a solution like this and are working on a solution here.

I completely agree with jch on this one.

Yes, looking forward to third party tracking solutions for Corona. Any additional details about the progress on these would be greatly appreciated!

This is great news, looks like a good start towards us having paid plugins as well.

One concern that I have is that as we add more plugins and make more complex apps it becomes easier and easier to hit Android’s 64k method limit. Are there any plans in place to work around this? If a developer buys 10 plugins and can only use 9 of them before they go over the limit that would be a pain.

I’m looking forward to seeing Corona’s capabilities open up even further as people make new plugins, so hopefully there’s a workaround for this.

This is very good news. In particular, it’s great to hear that Google Analytics plugin is under way now that we have lost official support for GameAnalytics plugin. If you could share any details about the ETA of Google Analytics plugin, that would be very helpful. Thanks!

I will be posting my existing widgets and developing new ones as soon as paid plugins are available. Been waiting for this for a while.

I hope you are looking into subscriptions for paid plugins and a possibility of posting free demo plugins for paid plugins would be nice also.

    Hope this rolls out soon.
