Corona Geek

Knowing where you've been is just as important as knowing where you are going. That's why I like to write up a recap of the week. It helps remind me of what was accomplished during the week and hopefully it helps you catch up on anything you might have missed. This week's recap is going to be a little different because on Monday it was officially announced that Corona Geek joined Corona Labs family. So in today's recap I want to share with you what that means to me and what it will mean for the Corona community....

On Monday's hangout we'll be talking with Stian Saunes from 10FINGERS AB about Corona Paper, the digital magazine devoted to mobile development using Corona SDK. Stian Saunes, one of Corona Paper's Technical Editors, is going to tell us where the idea for the magazine came from, why a mobile app studio is also creating a magazine, and what we can expect to see in future issues....

What better way to kick off the new year than to hangout and recap what happened in 2012 and talk about what that will mean for the Corona community in 2013? Recently I got the chance to hangout with Michelle Fernandez, author of the Corona SDK Mobile Game Development: Beginner's Guide. Just like the title implies, her book introduces you to mobile game development using the Corona SDK and the Lua language. If you've never programmed or created a game, Michelle's book will step you through everything you need to know....

More on that later....

Peter Sandford recently launched his first mobile app using the Corona SDK and it's just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. The game is an 8-Bit side scroller with a retro appeal. You play the game as turkey who is trying to escape his or her Thanksgiving fate by jumping over cornucopias, pilgrim hats, hay bails, and pits. Along the way you collect stars and try not to die. The app is fun and would make a good game for the kiddies on the way to grandma's house. You can download the .99 cent app in the Apple App Store for...
